If you already have subscribers collected from other platforms and want to send email campaigns using SendWILL, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Import Subscribers into Shopify
SendWILL reads subscriber data directly from Shopify, so you need to import your contacts into Shopify first.
📍Go to:
Shopify Admin → Customers → Import
Upload your CSV file.
Step 2: Important Settings During Import
When importing, please make sure:
1️⃣ Include Email Address
Your CSV must contain a valid Email column.
2️⃣ Set “Accepts Email Marketing” to TRUE
This is very important.
Only customers marked as Subscribed in Shopify can receive email campaigns in SendWILL.
If this field is not set to TRUE, the customer will not be eligible for email marketing.
3️⃣ Add a Tag
Before clicking “Import”, check:
☑ “Add tags to customers in this CSV and use these tags to create a segment”
Enter a tag name, for example:
imported-subscribers
january-list
popup-old-list
This helps you easily create a segment later for campaign targeting.
👉 Tags are used for segmentation only.
They do NOT change subscription status.
Step 3: Create a Segment in Shopify
After import:
Go to:
Shopify Admin → Customers → Segments
You can:
Create a new segment
Filter by the tag you just added
Save the segment with your own name (e.g. “Imported January Subscribers”)
💡 Bonus: Use Shopify AI to Build Smart Segments
Inside the segment editor, you can use Shopify’s AI assistant to Refine your segment
For example, you can type:
“Customers who placed an order in the last 10 days”
“Customers who purchased more than once”
“Customers tagged with imported-subscribers and ordered in the past 30 days”
Shopify AI will automatically generate the correct filter and show the matching customer list.
This makes advanced targeting much easier.
Step 4: Send Campaign via SendWILL
Now go to:
SendWILL → Campaign → Create Campaign
When selecting recipients:
Choose the Shopify segment you just created.
Because these customers are:
Marked as Subscribed
Properly segmented
They are now eligible to receive your email campaign 🎉
Summary
To successfully send campaigns in SendWILL:
✅ Import subscribers into Shopify
✅ Make sure the status is "Subscribed"
✅ Add a tag for easy segmentation
✅ Create or save a segment
✅ Select that segment when creating a campaign in SendWILL
